Your role

The search is on for our new Lead Barista for our new location in Den Haag! 


You thrive working alongside a team to deliver the best possible coffee experience . You will support and work closely together with the specialty coffee bar manager & our product team to bring Wakuli's promise of accessible specialty coffee to the streets. You are a proven people-person who takes pride in giving amazing service experiences and thoroughly enjoys connecting to the neighbourhood. You are customer-centric and believe in impact products with flawless execution, making every effort to give your customers exactly what they need. You excel in fast-paced environments and enjoy an inclusive, collaborative workplace, where your voice genuinely counts. And you love coffee, want to learn everything there is to know and will craft the best coffee drinks any first-time local as well as long-time Wakuli fan traveling from afar has ever tasted. 




Job requirements

What you'll own

People - Care for and coach your teammates

  • Support your Store Management Team and Training Team to help coach and mentor new employees to succeed at your Wakuli store. Although you're influential, you will not manage other employees

Product - Execute our products flawlessly

  • Craft beautiful, well executed coffee products according to company standards and serve all  customers with energy, warmth, and empathy
  • Have a thorough understanding of what makes Wakuli’s products unique and differentiated with the ability to communicate it to customers and teammates
  • Maintain coffee quality standards across your store and assist coffee trainers in ensuring recipes are up to date

Physical Space - Ensure true operational and brand excellence

  • Take care of the highest hygiene standards (HACCP) and waste management protocols
  • Maintain operational excellence in the way of store environment, cleanliness and brand expectations

  • Open and close the location safely and responsibly (Key holder) and ensure that cleaning duties for the store are followed at the beginning, during and end of the shift
  • Positive and solution focused handling of any minor customer issue
  • Provide timely and consistent coaching to your team to inspire improvement in workflow
  • Ensure your back of house and all areas of your store is well organised and a safe environment

Performance - Be the best at what you do

  • Uphold the company standard NPS scores, celebrating the positives with your teams and immediately actioning any feedback in a timely manner
  • Be a champion of your stores performance, finding ways to grow your store AOV, meet sales goals through creative initiatives and gain team buy-in to share the same vision


What you'll bring

  • 3+ years experience in retail or hospitality industry
  • Fluency in English and preferably Dutch
  • Strong knowledge of, or willingness to learn quickly about specialty coffee
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum 24 hours a week of flexible availability - of which at least one shift on Saturday or Sunday and ability to start early (6.30 am for some shifts)
