Job description
Retail Marketing Internship (6 months)
€500 per month (based on full time employment)
4-5 days per week | Start date: August
About Wakuli
We love great coffee. That’s why we’re building an alternative coffee industry that actually works. For both farmers and consumers.
How? By working directly with farmer groups around the world. We set up transparent, traceable export lines, roast the beans ourselves and sell the coffee straight to customers. So no unnecessary middlemen or resellers. Those short supply chains make sure farmers always get a good price.
You’ll find us in 23 (and counting) bars across the Netherlands, and online through our own platform. For customers, that means freshly roasted specialty coffee that’s easy to access, relatively affordable and just seriously delicious.
We are building the new coffee brand of the 21st century with a team of like-minded innovators from all over the world. And we’re looking for you.
Your Role
Want to learn what it actually takes to grow a premium retail brand? As our Retail Marketing Intern, you'll build real-world skills in retail marketing, campaign execution, and commercial strategy, working directly with our Retail Marketing Manager and Retail Traffic Marketing Manager to bring Wakuli bars to life.
This internship is built for learning by doing. Every project from store launches to traffic-driving campaigns is a chance to develop skills you'll use for the rest of your career, in a fast-moving scale-up environment where no two days (or learning curves) look the same.
Job requirements
You’ll be involved in both creative execution and operational excellence, helping improve customer experience while learning how strong retail marketing translates into measurable commercial impact.
Skills you’ll build:
Retail marketing & premium brand execution - learn how a premium brand stays consistent and elevated at every customer touchpoint
Project & launch management - develop the planning, coordination and prioritisation skills needed to deliver new store openings on time
Customer experience design - understand what drives loyalty and repeat visits in physical retail
Growth & traffic marketing - learn how to test, measure and scale local marketing initiatives
Commercial & data literacy - build confidence in reporting, KPI tracking and translating numbers into decisions
Stakeholder communication - practice being the link between HQ and store teams, sharpening how you communicate, influence and problem-solve
You:
Write and Speak Fluently in English (Dutch is a plus)
Know how to prioritise, stay organised and enjoy keeping projects running smoothly
Are passionate about customer experience, people and communication.
Don’t mind jumping right in, being proactive, curious and not afraid to take ownership
You are following a Marketing / Communication / Commercial Economics related degree
Have experience working in retail or hospitality (ideal but not essential)
Enjoy working with data and are comfortable using Excel or spreadsheets.
What we offer:
Free coffee for at home! And when you’re working from a bar.
The opportunity to make a real difference in the world.
A lot of responsibilities and a steep learning curve.
1 day work from home, 4 days in office.
Talented international and impact driven colleagues with a great team spirit.
€500 monthly pay based on full time employment.
